Dear Parents,
We have had a very busy term thus far and nearing the end. The weather is starting to turn and looking more like winter.
Work has started on the nature playground and it is looking fantastic. The children are very excited.
We have been planning for term 3 and hoping that many events can return. Assemblies have been scheduled in the hopes that we will be able to have parents on-site as an audience. In the interim we have been calling out honour certificates and awards over the PA system for the classes.
A reminder that Friday, 3rd July is the last day of term 2. Students return to school on Tuesday, 21st July for the start of term 3.
Student Reports
Parents will be emailed student reports on Friday. The reports are a shortened version of reports as we have had little time to teach and assess students. There are no grades on the reports. Teachers have written a Literacy, Numeracy and overall comments about your child's work in class. Attendance information will also be missing from the report.
Term 3 Parent Survey
Staff have been really impressed with the way children are independently walking into the school grounds, especially young students. Everyone is entering their classroom and unpacking their own bag. I understand how much parents like bringing their children into the school however some adult behaviour prevents our students from fully developing their independence.
Students are more focused and ready to start in the morning. We have less students arriving late. Learning begins quickly in the morning. Students are ready to begin work and class routines are completed before the bell rings. Our students are working better and are more calm and ready to start straight after the bell rings in the morning.
Students are organising their own possessions. This has been a surprise to staff and has been an unexpected, positive outcome from the Covid 19 pandemic.
Staff wish to keep these behaviours and I will be asking for input from parents. I will be sending out a survey to parents, via dojo, asking for suggestions that will allow our students to maintain these positive skills. This will be sent out tomorrow and parents have 10 days to reply with suggestions.
We wish everyone a safe and happy holiday over the term break.

Principal
Thank you to all those parents who have continued to support the school by paying their Voluntary Contributions. So far we have had 60% of these contributions paid. We encourage all our families to do what they can to pay these contributions as they go a long way to supporting your child’s education at Samson Primary School.
A friendly reminder to the students in Rooms 3 to 12 (excluding Room 5), to please pay for their iMaths Tracker and/or Sound Waves books. These have all been billed and, where necessary, reminders have been sent home.

PURPLE HAZE CUPCAKE STALL
The total amount raised was a massive $719.05!!
This money will assist with funding decorations and invitations for the Graduation Dinner Dance held in December.
Mrs Giglia and I are very proud of the effort the year 6 students put in to making stunning cakes. The way you conducted yourselves during recess and lunch while selling the cakes was outstanding...Well done kids!

Are you aware that our students are registered to use Mathletics? The school is very fortunate to be able to offer this program free of charge to our students, thanks to your P&C who have, for several years, paid the subscription.
As an individual this subscription would cost you $99 for a year. This cost is as low as $13 per student through the school.
All students have been issued with log in details and have been using the program at school. The content our students access is managed by their class teachers. You can access your child’s platform at home and track their progress.
We would like to thank the P&C who have, once again, agreed to fund the Mathletics subscription for 2021. Please encourage your children to practice their skills at home and let’s make this investment in our students learning worth every cent.

Order some healthy and delicious food from the Little Lunch Box!! https://quickcliq.com.au
TLLB is open Thursday and Friday from week 2 until further notice. As it is still ok to take over the counter orders, we will accept orders if necessary. But, as parents are not allowed to enter the school premises at present, students will need to take their order to the canteen. We will continue with the usual way of operating - recess orders collected at the counter, lunch orders delivered to classrooms.
Online ordering through Quickcliq is preferred.
All hygiene standards will be adhered to and maintained. We will provide some fun weekly menu options over the coming weeks. Keep up to date with TLLB Facebook page, or through the newsletter.
SamDads Adventure Playground Update May 2020.
The SamDads were back in action this weekend to salvage timber for the deck of the sea container fort which will be the centre piece of the new play area. The sea container is due to arrive very soon and we will then set to work to build the fort and bring in materials for the other playground elements.
Plans for a dads and kids event have been on hold in recent times but the next idea is to go 4WDing for a day during Spring term.
We'd love to get more families from the school on board - for any fathers or father figures at the school who are interested, find our SamDads group on the thefatheringproject.org and sign up to be included on communications about upcoming activities. We can then also add you to our whatsapp group.
